I interviewed the beloved children of the Middle School Marco Polo of Fabriano, a city dear to me for having given birth to my dear colleague and friend Francesco academic Linceo Stelluti.
"And yet it moves"
"I was born February 15, 1564 in Pisa, my father was a musician and his name was Vincenzo Galilei and Giulia Ammannati my mother's name. My life was very busy at 10 years I moved to Florence and to the age of 11 years I studied at the Benedictine abbey of Vallambrosa. Here I thought I would be Monaco, but in 1581 I continued my studies at the University of Pisa. "
- Why did you decided to transfer his studies at the University of Pisa?
"Because I wanted to become a doctor, by the will of my father, but I realized that my true passion was physics, mathematics and astronomy.
So I returned to Florence to devote to my interests."
- Have you ever taught in a school?
"Certainly at the age of 22 years taught mathematics at the University of Pisa. ... But enough about my life!"
- So what do we tell?
"I'll tell you what happened to me when I tried to present my ideas considered too cumbersome and time revolutionary "
- This refers to the condemnation by the church?
" Yes indeed "
- Tell us!
" I condemned for observing the universe I realized that all the heavenly bodies revolved around the sun and this was still while the earth revolved around itself. This is why in 1633 the Inquisition in Rome I process. I was imprisoned, threatened with torture and forced to publicly renounce my ideas. I said that THE EARTH WAS STOPPED . But I said softly: "And yet it moves . This is the truth!
